Aussies

yeah , they are great and all that . Yeah life is easy for many Occas , makes for a relaxed population. But , there's a good few rednecks around , not that there is anything wrong with having a red neck . In fact is a good thing , get outside and do some work in the fresh air , get a red neck , sort of thing I should be doing rather than writing this. How did we get to using "red-neck" as a derogatory term. Anyway small minded conservative and bigoted attitudes are still to be found , a prevelance in small rural towns .
The Lucky country . Yeah kind-of . Anyway I live in a beautiful part of this lucky country, gorgeous scenery, fantastic beaches, lovely hinterland, a diverse population of people living here and a great climate. Lots of out-of-towners and people from overseas have moved here for these very reasons . Not once has any single one of them said they moved here because of the 'wonderful locals' . Yes sad but true , we all have our reasons for moving here and to be with the locals isn't one of them.
Who cares you might ask ? Well no one really , but I just thought I'd mention it.

my first post

Town divided , Echo versus Saturday star readers , red-necks versus hippies , locals versus blow-ins . Paid agitators in uniform confront hippies at quiet country town demonstration.
Big business would not be interested in country town until blow-ins blew in . locals now want big business rather than blow-ins , Blow-ins , blew in partially to get away from big business .
Locals see big business as progress , progress is no good if it's progressing in a bad direction .
Bad feeling in Mullumbimby .
Yeah and Mandy Nolan was right Byron bay is crap
